Culinary Technology 110

Culinary Technology 110 is an entry-level, hands-on course designed to introduce learners to essential culinary skills related to baking. It focuses on food safety, healthy eating, local food systems, and career pathways in the food service industry. Learners will gain practical experience in food preparation, safety, sanitation, and the use of tools and equipment, while learning the theory behind these skills. The course also emphasizes key Global Competencies like collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and sustainability. Additionally, learners will explore career opportunities in culinary arts, including roles such as cook, baker, server, and management, while also learning about post-secondary options and professional certifications, including the Canadian Red Seal Certification (RSE)

Note:  It is strongly recommended that learners take Culinary Technology 110 prior to Culinary Technology 120.  Foundational learning in Culinary 110 will be expanded on in Culinary 120.  Schools should consider facility restrictions when determining appropriate class sizes due to safety concerns, equipment availability and infrastructure limits.  Recommended maximum class sizes should be 20 students in most cases.
