High School Block:

Electrical Wiring 110

Electrical Wiring 110 will expose learners to the knowledge, skills, and competencies required in the electrical trade. Learners will explore the pathways to apprenticeship and career opportunities found in the electrical field. The course covers topics such as understanding Canadian electrical code requirements, residential wiring methods, types of cable, circuit design and installation, and the use of tools and equipment in an electrical lab. Students will also develop skills in workplace safety, identifying and preventing hazards, and interpreting diagrams and schematics. Numeracy and literary skills specific to the trade will be developed throughout the course. Hands on applied skills are a focal point in this course including stripping conductor insulation, terminating conductors and cables, and installing required electrical components for a complete electrical system.
