Indigenous Art - three artists / mediums

This bundle will explore work of Indigenous artists, Alan Syliboy, Kenojuak Askhevak, and Brian Jungen.
Learners will examine how each artist used similar themes/subjects while working in a unique style.
Learners will also create artwork using the theme of animals with different mediums: drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture.

Onomatopoeia Pop Art

This bundle of lessons begins with an introduction to Pop Art and how and why it was created. It then touches on famous artist Roy Lichtenstein and his methods for creating Pop Art. With a focus on Lichtenstein’s methods, students are given the opportunity to explore how art and literacy work together. They will learn about onomatopoeia and create their own piece of art combining their newfound literacy knowledge with the methods of Roy Lichtenstein.

Shading with a Pencil

This lesson will take students through a few introductory lessons on how to shade with and control a pencil/pencil crayon, as well as an introduction to the concepts of form, shape, contrast, and contour line.
