Read Words with the QU Spelling
This resource package focuses on developing children’s ability to read words with the QU spelling in connected text, and provides generic lesson plans for word, sentence, and text level reading development.
The letters Q and U are always found together and make the /kw/ sound in quilt or quit. The only exception to this is the name of the word Iraq.
Please note that this spelling can be introduced alongside other spellings.

Read Words with the SH Spelling
This resource package focuses on developing children’s ability to read words with the SH spelling in connected text, and provides generic lesson plans for word, sentence, and text level reading development.
The SH letter pair makes the /sh/ sound in hush or shush.
Please note that this spelling does not need to be introduced in isolation of other spellings. It may be especially helpful to contrast /sh/ with /ch/

Read Words with the TH Spelling
This resource package focuses on developing children’s ability to read words with the TH spelling in connected text, and provides generic lesson plans for word, sentence, and text level reading development.
The TH letter combination makes a voiced (vocal cords used) or unvoiced /th/ sound. It is most often voiced in structure words like that, or between two vowels, as in mother. The TH in think is an example of the unvoiced /th/ sound.
Many determiners, and students may require additional instruction to understand their meaning and usage.
Please note that this spelling does not need to be introduced in isolation of other spellings.

Read Words with the WH Spelling
This resource package focuses on developing children’s ability to read words with the WH spelling in connected text, and provides generic lesson plans for word, sentence, and text level reading development.
The WH letter pair makes the same sound as the single w (/w/) in most words. Occasionally it makes the /h/ sound, as in the words who, whole, and whose.
Please note that this spelling does not need to be introduced in isolation of other spellings.
