High School Block:
Computer Aided Design 110
Modern construction and manufacturing require many parts to be integrated into larger projects. Efficiently creating these parts necessitates a concept, design, and precise measurements to convey to others for part fabrication. Modern computer software allows users to create digital representations of objects for construction and manufacturing, including highly accurate measurements that can be transmitted to CNC devices such as routers, 3D printers, and robotic manufacturing processes.
Computer-aided designs often build upon traditional, hand-drawn drafting techniques. Understanding how to communicate a design for a physical part, as well as representing a physical object digitally, is crucial in this course. Learners will have opportunities to represent physical objects through measurement, scaling, and viewing perspectives. The course serves as an introduction to mechanical and architectural drafting.
Students should have successfully completed Grade 9 Math before enrolling in this course. It is beneficial for learners exploring pathways in engineering, manufacturing, architecture, robotics, 3D printing, and digital content creation.
